Dr Pep Canadell completed his Bachelor of Science (Biology), Masters of Science (Terrestrial Ecology) and PhD in Terrestrial Ecology at the University Autonomous of Barcelona, Spain. Pep was a Lecturer and Adjunct Professor from 1991-1992 at San Diego Sate University, California, and a Research Associate at University of California, Berkerley from 1993 to 1994. He was a Scientific Officer for Global Change and Terrestrial Ecosystems (GCTE) core project of the International Geosphere-Biosphere Program (IGBP), Stanford University, California, USA; and Research Associate at Stanford University from 1995 to 1998. From 1998 to 2003 Pep was the Executive Director of the Global Change and Terrestrial Ecosystems (GCTE) core project of IGBP at CSIRO Sustainable Ecosystems, Canberra, Australia. Since 2001 Pep has been Executive Director of the Global Carbon Project (GCP) the first joint project of the Earth System Partnership (ESSP) sponsored by: the Interntional Geosphere-Biosphere Programme (IGBP), the International Human Dimension Programme (IHDP), the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP), and Diversitas. Pep is currently a Research Scientist with CSIRO Marine and Atmospheric Research, Canberra, Australia.
